The gauges

Two ways to read the width

Both use the same rim insert and wheel cap, so the measurement runs straight down the centre of the axle. Pick the readout you prefer.

Rear Track Gauge

Tape-based

A rim insert with a flush reference line at one end and a stop cap at the other. Push a normal tape measure through the axle until it bottoms out and read the number at the line. One person, no helper.

Rear Track Gauge Laser

Digital readout

The same insert with a handheld laser measure locked in a printed holder. Switch on, set the reference to front, press once and read the width on the display.

Rear Track Gauge Laser

Fit, switch on, read

  1. Fit the holder

    Fit the laser holder on the outside of one rear wheel and the wheel cap on the outside of the other, in line with the axle. Confirm steps

  2. Set the reference to front

    Switch on, then long press the reference key until the display icon changes. Front is the laser end. Check it every time you switch on.

  3. Measure

    With the laser dot on, press the measure key. The reading is the width in metres: 1.395 m is 1395 mm.
